CAN I USE THE BAGS AT THE GROCERY STORE?
YES! Carry home all your produce, bulk, loose bakery items and even flour in these bags! Cashiers can deduct the tare weight of the bag.
CAN I STORE PRODUCE IN THE BAGS IN THE FRIDGE?
YES! When you get home, take the veggie out of the bag, give it a quick rinse to hydrate it, put it back in the bag and into the crisper drawer. Refresh with another rinse after a week or so.
A few exceptions: Some vegetables should not be washed before storing. For example eggplants, potatoes, tomatoes, squash and basil prefer to be storeddry. Fruit does not need to be pre-rinsed and also stores very well in the fridge with or without the bag – either works!
CAN I STORE BULK AND BAKERY FOODS IN THE BAGS?
We prefer to store bulk foods in airtight glass jars and baked goods are best stored in a non-glazed clay bread box – either in or out of the bags.
HOW DO THE BAGS WORK?
Hands On Hemp bags are made with a tight weave in order to protect your food from outside surface contact AND are
made of a breathable 45% hemp/55% organic cotton blend to allow the perfect balance of moisture retention and air circulation for produce storage. The temperature of your fridge also matters for optimal food storage – ideal is 35 degress.
CAN I WASH THE BAGS?
Yes! After each use, shake bags out well and hang to dry. You can usually re-use the bags several times before washing. Machine wash and dry as needed with your other towels or clothes. These hemp bags get softer with washing!
